Lights

22 Dec 2011

Long time no post – I have no idea what I’ve been doing to not be posting! I know I’ve not picked my camera up for ages and that makes me a little sad. Anyway, here are some pics I took on the road on my way up to Wales back in August for Lowri and Ski’s amazing wedding. New Year intention is to get back snapping!

Sulk Over!

13 Sep 2011

Ok, its been ages since I posted something on here. Ive been sulking because my blog got hacked and as I hadn’t backed stuff up months of posts were lost :-(

Anyway…I have been taking loads of photos so I should have enough stuff to bore you with…starting with Croatia. Lovely, gorgeous, beautiful, distant memory Croatia…wish I was still there!

It’s Thursday night and Thursday night means quiz night in our new local pub! There are a few great things about this pub quiz – mainly beating the boys (he he!) but also some other things, like it’s called the Bank of Friendship, it’s an old man’s pub with no trendy twats cluttering the bar and (best of all!) at half time you get a bowl of cheese, crackers & peanuts…yum!

Tonight I found a love heart shaped morsel of cracker in amongst the dry roasted:

Well not quite! Just a few pictures I’ve taken recently of some windows which I like.

The Barbican

07 Feb 2011

On Saturday I went to The Barbican to visit the Future Beauty: 30 Years of Japanese Fashion exhibition. It was really interesting to be able to get up close and see how some of the over the top pieces have been put together, especially when your so used to seeing them flat in magazines and on the TV. The clothes were not really to my taste but there were small elements of most of the designs that I liked. Unfortunately, photography wasn’t allowed and the one picture I managed to sneakily take didn’t come out very well!

I left feeling quite inspired, but not sure if that was from the exhibition or just being in The Barbican. I love how dated yet modern it feels. I’m going to make it my mission in the not too distant future to try and catch a live performance there. Check the website out here.

Napoleon has been off the scale crazy today running around the house, attacking me in my sleep, skidding into doors…playing hide and seak!

Smoke and a pancake?

30 Jan 2011

Yesterday I spent a very cultured afternoon visiting some of the free exhibitions London has on offer and hanging out with my lovely friends.

First we went to the Hipstamatic exhibition at the Orange Dot Gallery. It was really inspiring and refreshing to see ‘normal’ people creating amazing photos. We all left with a renewed sense of photo taking purpose!

Then we went to the Welcome Trust just around the corner to explore the High Society exhibition which traces the use of drugs throughout the world. A really fascinating mix of film, photography, books, objects, facts and fiction.

My favourite piece was a visual representation of 3 spiders webs after they had been given Benzedrine (Speed), Caffeine and Marijuana . NASA carried out experiments to show how the drugs affected the building process. Surprisingly, the worst web was the one built whilst under the influence of caffeine – completely erratic and not very well joined up – possibly something to consider next time you reach for your latte!

Vote For Me!

23 Jan 2011

As you probably guessed I am a massive fan of the Hipstamatic app on the iphone. I love the unpredictability of taking a photo and how its going to turn out.

So, I decided to enter one of the Hipstamatic competitions on the website. You can see it here along with all the other entries if you click on the leaderboard tab. Please vote for me…Im not sure what the prize is but it would be brilliant to find out!

Im hoping to make it to an exhibition at the Orange Dot Gallery in London one night next week to see some of the best pics chosen especially for the public to see.

I ventured south of the river last night to go and bid my friend and (ex) work colleague Nicolette ‘Bon Voyage’ on her new adventure as she prepares to move to Canada.

It was a fun night, but mindful of the inevitable trek home ahead of me I left on the right side of being tipsy! Never wanting to miss the opportunity to take photos and experiment (and being fuelled by the white wine!) I decided to document my journey home.

I must admit I was pleasantly surprised when I looked over the pics this morning. I thought they would be rubbish but I actually like a couple of them.

Doh!

16 Jan 2011

Yesterday I managed to delete my blog theme…cue panicked calls to my brother, whining on my part and name calling on his! Change is a funny thing – it needs to happen and we crave it, however it can be unnerving and scary at times. It should be viewed as a good opportunity and chance for improvement and learning.

So, over the next few weeks I am going to try and redesign my blog to have it the way I want it – it should be a pleasure and not a chore. Watch this space.
